Friends of Pevensey Bay Library (FPBL)
Friends of Pevensey Bay Library (FPBL) aim to campaign for and support the provision of improved public library services in Pevensey Bay.
Who are we?
We are a group of local residents, different ages, who use and care about our local library. We have campaigned for better library services over the last three years following the temporary closure of the library in 2015. Despite the objections raised by local residents and the two parish councils, East Sussex County Council closed the library (and six others) on May 5th having invited bids from local organisations to run it. They offered no funding whatsoever, not even a small amount of transitional funding to help get new arrangements in place.
A new community managed library with significant financial support from Pevensey Parish Council and Pevensey Town Trust is being set up. It is to be run by Volunteers Network CIC (aka Eastbourne Volunteers) who have indicated that they will try and re-open the library in September.
